HOW TO BE SURE YOU ARE SECURE:
(Dr. Adrian Rogers speaking:) Dr.
Rogers final message before his recent death. He is now in the presence of God.
"Is there anything better than being saved?
Yes, being saved and knowing so. Is there anything better and than being saved and knowing so? Yes, KNOWING that
you are saved and KNOWING that you can never lose your salvation.
Romans 8:38 and 39, "I am persuaded (convinced)
that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height,
nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord,"
(No, NOTHING!!!) Say it loudly!
Just because you failed and you were naughty doesn't
mean you aren't still a part of your physical family. Your parents didn't say to you that your were not a part
of the family anymore when you did mess up.
The most productive Christians have a secure future,
and as a result you can now concentrate on the present; on what God wants you to be in the here and now.
Not everyone who professes to be saved really are.
It isn't about works, but faith in Jesus Christ as God in the flesh who died and rose again for us.
Matthew 7:22 and 23, "Many will say to Me on
that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophecy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in your name perform many miracles?'
And then I will declare to them, 'I never know you: DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS."
John 10:27, (I know my sheep) Jesus said:
"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me."
Some people are like alka seltzer Christians.
You drop them in water, they fizzle for awhile and then disappear. We don't need Baptist doctrine, Presbyterian
doctrine, Methodist Doctrine, etc. we need only Bible doctrine--God's word alone.
If you've really given your heart to God , you won't
(can't) lose your salvation no matter what you do or have done. There are 8 ways you can KNOW that you won't lose your
salvation.
1. God's Sacred Promise: Again, it's
in Romans 8: 38 and 39. There is no way that you can be separated from God.
2. God's Determined Purpose: He
had a purpose in saving YOU. Philippians 1:6, "For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good
work in your will perfect (complete it/finish it) until the day of Christ Jesus." Have you started something
and never finished it? Well, God will never take your name off the list. Remember, it's the Holy Spirit
within us who convicts, converts, and completes us.
3. God's Sovereign Predestination: Romans
8: 29 and 30, "For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, that He might
be the first-born among many brethren; and whom He predestined, these He also called; and whom He called, these He also
justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified."
So, since He predestined----called-----justified----glorified-----It's
already done!!! God foreknew it all, past, present, and future and ALL at the same time. You are predestined
to be like Jesus; to be conformed to the image of His Son. We don't need to totally understand it all. We know
that His word says it, so believe it.
4. Calvary's Perfect Provision: Hebrews
10:14, "For by one offering (Jesus' once and for all death on the cross) He has perfected for all time those who are
sanctified." So, you are stamped with a seal,
5. The Saint's New Position:
II Corinthians 5:17, "If any man is in Christ, he is a new creature. All things have passed away."
Being a Christian means if you perish, a part of Christ perishes.
We are SEALED with Christ just as Noah was sealed
in the arc. Inside the arc Noah might have stumbled and fallen a lot, but he didn't fall OUT of the arc. Your
security is in the person of Jesus Christ, so that is your position.
6. The Believer's Eternal Provision:
John 5:24, "Truly (or verily--it means to pay attention) I say to you: He who hears my Word and believe
Him who sent me, has everlasting life, and does not come into condemnation (judgment) but has passed from death (or out of
death) into LIFE."
You have eternal life the very day you believe you
have it. It's NOW, not just when you die. You can't lose everlasting life, and it starts now--the very day you give
your life to Jesus Christ.
To know Jesus adds life to your years!
He wants you to have life abundantly (John 10:10)
7. Jesus' Intercessory Prayer: John 17:5,
"I pray for them, the saints" (which is you, who believe).
Jesus prayed for us. John 17: 9, "I pray
that they aren't taken out of the world, but that you'd keep them from the evil one (Satan, our enemy who wants
to bring us down.)
John 17:20, "Jesus prayed for you." He
prayed to God the Father for all of us--and us specifically.
Hebrews 7:25, "He is able to save forever (to the
uttermost) those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them."
He saves to the uttermost means He keeps you
all the way to the end!!!
8. God's Mighty Power: I Peter
1: 3-5, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born
again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable
and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith for
a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time."
It's all because of His mercy---reserved in heaven
for YOU that NO power can take you out of the hand of God. He can't even. You are kept by the power of God.
If you are
seeking to know God in a personal way, it's so plain and simple. "Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved."
